Patria, 2019
The video Patria, 2019, collects images of a woman, destroying a flag of an undetermined, non-existent country. While tearing the fabrics, it joins each piece to form an infinite line, made up of the different colors of the fabrics, this time mixed and reconfigured in its sense. The action of tearing, is in itself an exercise of resistance, result of the force exerted by the body on something. {The issue of resistance is central to the work of the artist both in her work and in curatorial approaches, where performance, actions and resistance practices are a cross-sectional part of her curatorial research.}
In this new video, get from a mix of classic opera sounds (Mahler and Verdi), create a climate of tension and emotionality. This time he mixes the hard sound of tearing the fabrics, with fragments of Mahler's fifth. the aria O patria mia, from the opera Aida de Verdi, played by Jessye Norman. Aida in Arabic means 'visitor' or 'coming back' and it is in that context where the artist is operating. The duality of that coming and going, the one who visits comes to another place, the one who returns, returns to his supposed place and in the meantime, on that trip he is always ‘between lands’. That new space, a third shore when saying of Guimaraes; It is a place of transit, waiting, solitude and isolation.

El video Patria, 2019, recoge imágenes de una mujer, destruyendo una bandera de un país indeterminado, inexistente. Al mismo tiempo que rasga las telas, va uniendo cada trozo para formar una línea infinita, conformada de los diversos colores de las telas, esta vez mezclados y re configurados en su sentido. La acción de rasgar, es en si un ejercicio de resistencia, resultado de la fuerza que ejerce el cuerpo sobre algo. {El tema de la resistencia es central en el trabajo de la artista tanto en su obra como en los abordajes curatoriales, donde la performance, las acciones y prácticas de resistencia, son parte transversal de sus investigaciones curatoriales.}
En este nuevo video, consigue a partir de un mix de sonidos de la ópera clásica (Mahler y Verdi), crear un clima de tensión y emotividad. En esta oportunidad mezcla el sonido duro del rasgado de las telas, con fragmentos de la quinta de Mahler. el aria O patria mia, de la opera Aida de Verdi, interpretada por Jessye Norman. Aida en árabe significa 'visitante' o 'que regresa' y es en ese contexto donde la artista esta operando. La dualidad de ese ir y venir, el que visita llega a otro lugar, el que regresa, vuelve a su supuesto lugar y mientras tanto, en ese viaje siempre esta ‘entre tierras’. Ese nuevo espacio, una tercer orilla al decir de Guimaraes; es un lugar de tránsito, de espera, de soledad y aislamiento.
